Winter Lip Care Tips

1. Moisturize Your Lips



 
Moisturize your lips very well. Always keep your lip balm handy.

 

2. Exfoliate Your Lips




 
Exfoliate your lips regularly using a gentle scrub. You can use mixture of brown or white sugar and coconut oil as a scrub. It gently exfoliates the lips and moisturize at the same time. Use it twice a week to get perfect pink lips.

 

3. Keep Yourself Hydrated




 
Drink plenty of water throughout the day and keep yourself hydrated. dehydration can lead to dry and chapped lips.

 

4. Use a lip balm that is ointment-based




 


This will lock in the moisture and help to heal cracks and splits in the skin. Look for a healing ointment that contains petrolatum, essential oils or glycerin. Another important ingredient is sunscreen (there still is sun in the winter ! )

 

5. Avoid lip balms containing camphor, eucalyptus and menthol




 
These substances present in the lip balm actually dry out your lips and make the problem even worse. In response, you apply more of this kind of lip balm, and the cycle continues.

 

6. Don’t lick your lips




 
Licking your lips to make it moist, actually have an opposite effect. Once you put saliva on the lips, it dries out and makes our lips even more dry. Plus the enzymes that are in saliva that are meant to digest food are irritating to the lips.

 

7. Use Tea Bags To Soothe Dry Lips




 
Dont throw away the tea bags you use to make tea. instead put them on your lips. It will immediately give you a cooling sensation and will soothe your dry lips.

 

8. Choose The Right Lipstick




 
Avoid wearing lipsticks that are too drying on your lips. Apply lipstick that have moisturizing ingredients in it.

 

9. Honey Is the Best Moisturizer




 
Honey is the best natural remedy for dry and chapped lips. Apply honey on your lips and wash it off after 15-20 minutes. Do this daily to see immediate results.

 

10. Moisturize Lips Before Bed Time




 
Moisturize your lips before going to bed. This will heal your dry and chapped lips overnight and you will wake up with soft lips.

 

11. Quit Smoking



Smoking is extremely harmful for your lips. It dries out your lips and make them pale.
