1. Turmeric
Turmeric has strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It will eliminate the harmful free radicals that are damaging the skin. It enhances collagen production, and this will make your skin fairer, supple and glowing.
You Will Need
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Gram flour (also called chickpea flour) - 2 tablespoons
- Milk or water - enough to make a smooth paste.
Method
- Mix the turmeric powder with the gram flour and then add enough milk or water to form a paste.
- Apply this on your face and neck.
- Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse with plain water.
- Do not wash your face with face wash for atleast an hour after this remedy.
- Use this remedy once or twice a week.
2.Tomato
Tomato balances the skin’s pH levels. It closes pores, preventing bacteria, dirt, oil, and dead skin cells from clogging them. Tomatoes contain anti-oxidants that protect against the free radicals that cause acne and reduces the appearance of acne scars.
The natural acid in tomatoes restores the skin’s natural oil leaving it soft and smooth.
You Will Need
- Tomato Puree - 1 tablespoons
- Lemon juice (optional) - 1/2 teaspoon or few drops
Method
- Use a cotton ball to apply mixture onto the skin, massaging in circular motions.
- Leave on 10-15 minutes.
- Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
- Repeat the process 2 to 3 times a week.
Note: this remedy uses highly acidic ingredients and is not ideal for those with dry or sensitive skin.
3. Lemon and Sugar Scrub
Lemon is one of the best skin brightening agents. It cleanses, bleaches, and also removes tan . The sugar granules are gentle on your skin and help to get rid of dead cells.
You Will Need
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons sugar
Method
- Mix the ingredients and apply the mixture on your face.
- Scrub in a circular motion and leave it on for 10 minutes.
- Rinse off with warm water to reveal glowing skin.
- Repeat this twice a week.
4. Papaya
Ripe papaya acts as a mild exfoliator and gently removes the top layer of dead cells on the face and makes your skin radiant and younger looking. It also clears the dirt and oil that can lead to acne and breakouts on the face. It also reduces the blemishes on the skin.
You Will Need
- Ripe Papaya Pulp- 1 tablespoon
- Turmeric - a pinch of
- Lemon juice (optional)- Few Drops
Method
- Mix all ingredients well to get a paste-like consistency.
- Apply it all over your face and neck.
- Keep it on for 20 minutes and then rinse with cool water.
- Do this twice every week.
5. Orange Peel
Orange contains large amounts of citric acid and vitamin C, which refresh the skin and relieve acne. It also firms the skin and gives it a natural glow
You Wil Need
- Orange peel Powder - 1 tablespoon or few pieces if using Fresh Orange Peel
- Rose water - Enough to make a paste
Method
- Mix the ingredients to form a paste or Grind the orange peel with the rose water if using fresh peel to make a smooth paste.
- Apply all over the face and leave it for 15 minutes.
- Rinse it off with cool water.
- Repeat this once or twice every week.
6. Milk
Raw milk contains skin-friendly ingredients such as saturated fat, protein, calcium, and vitamin C. It is known for its moisturizing and antibacterial properties. Also it lightens the skin complexion.
You Will Need
- Milk - 2 teaspoons
- Honey (optional) - 1 teaspoon
Method
- Mix the ingredients and apply all over the face using a cotton ball.
- Leave it on for 20 minutes.
- Rinse off with cool water.
- Repeat 3 to 4 times a week.
- This works best if you do it before bed time so it will work overnight without getting exposed to sun or pollution.
7. Yogurt
Lactic acid in yogurt removes the topmost layer of skin, which promotes the growth of new skin cells. This effectively reduces the appearance of pigmentation and adds glow to your skin.
You Will Need
- Plain Yogurt - 1 tablespoon
- Turmeric - a pinch of
Method
- Mix the ingredients and apply the mask.
- Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse with cool water.
- Do this twice a week.
8. Baking Soda
Baking soda exfoliates dead skin cells and also neutralizes the skin’s pH. It soothes the skin and heals any inflammation.
You Will Need
- Baking Soda - 1 tablespoon
- Water or Rose water - enough to make paste
Method
- Form a paste by mixing the baking soda and water.
- Apply onto the face and neck.
- Leave it for 10 minutes or until it is dry.
- Wash off with cool water.
- Do this 3 to 4 times a week.
9. Rose Water
Rose water is a commonly used as a skin toner. It cleanses and refreshes the skin. It also balances the pH level of the skin and brightens the skin tone by stimulating blood circulation.
You Will Need
- Rose water
- Cotton ball
Method
- Dip the cotton ball in the rose water and apply it all over the face and neck.
- Leave it overnight and wash your face with cool water in morning.
- Do this Daily before going to bed.
After you follow and use these remedies, your face is bound to have that extra glow and charm.
